Location

Situated on the second largest island in the sunny Bazaruto Archipelago off the coast of Mozambique, the lodge is set in a protected marine conservation area, offering pristine beaches and unspoiled coral reefs. Benguerra Island is accessed via a short helicopter transfer from Vilanculos – reachable from various international airports including Nelspruit and Johannesburg.

Accommodation

Rooms consist of ten casinhas, two cabanas and a three-bedroom Casa Familia for families and groups. Set under local thatch, both casinhas and cabanas boast elegant four-poster beds, comfortable day beds, private timber decks gazing toward the Indian Ocean, cool rim flow pools and generous-sized tubs big enough for two.

Dining

A shaded gazebo provides an ideal venue for dinner under the stars. Alternatively, the stylish dining room and open lounge both boast wide sunny decks for social dining. Meals served are mainly freshly caught seafood, served as a unique and delectable affair.

Facilities

Scheduled snorkelling trips, bird watching, sea kayaking, local community tours and island expeditions are all included in a stay at Benguerra Lodge, in addition to a massage Sala and dive centre (at an extra cost).
