The Mandhari restaurant is perhaps the hotel’s highpoint, having been widely acknowledged as one of Kenya’s finest dining establishments. By day you’ll be treated to Tuscan menus on the terrace before the evening beckons in Mediterranean delicacies. Expect candles, dimmed lights and gentle piano music, with the well-heeled enjoying cocktails in the lounge and cigars out on deck. It’s all supported by a superb wine list. For something more relaxed, head to the Bambara Lounge for a café service and patisserie delights.

Facilities

Matching the reputation of the Mandhari, the hotel’s spa also ranks among Nairobi’s finest. Along with the usual pool and fully equipped gym, there’s an excellent selection of treatments on offer, from massages and facials to body brushing and reflexology. There’s also a range of aerobic classes, including zumba, salsa and yoga. Or, for some liquid refreshment, there’s the Aksum Bar. Overlooking the hotel’s water gardens, it’s the perfect spot to enjoy a snack or glass of something cool.
