Fly to Trondheim and check in to the Thon Hotel Nidaros – a contemporary favourite housed in a early-20th-century stone building. At more than 1,000 years old, Trondheim is the historical heart of Norway and boasts a number of fascinating attractions including the colourful fisherman wharves that line the Nidelven River. The Trondheim food hall, full of locally produced foods ranging from seafood to smoked meats and homemade cheeses, is well worth a visit.

Polar Express
Travel on the spectacular Nordland Railway, known poetically as the Polar Express, on a ten-hour journey through Trøndelag’s breathtaking landscapes and across the Arctic Circle to Bodo.

Lofoten Islands
Take a short flight to Svolvær, capital of the Lofoten Islands, one of the world's most beautiful archipelagos. Optional activities include snowshoeing in Winter, sea kayaking in Summer, sea eagle safaris, Viking feasts and tours in search of the Northern Lights.
We have included a three-course dinner on your first night at the former trading post Borsen Spiseri and a Northern Lights hunt with the Aurora Jager (hunter) who goes to extraordinary lengths to ensure that you see the dancing lights above. The rest of your time in Lofoten is free for you to choose how you want to experience these remarkable islands.
