Introduction
Kvarner is a region blessed with enchanting scenic contrast, shouldered on one side by the Adriatic and on the other by mountains. The lush forests of this region mark the beginning of a natural diversity, which flows eastwards down the coast into neighbouring Lika and the breathtaking Plitvice Lakes National Park.
This region is one of Croatia's most luxurious areas; the Opatija Riviera and Lovran have long been connected with beautiful private villas and elite society.
Today Opatija and Lovran are open to everyone, occupying an idyllic place on the sheltered coastline of Kvarner's Gulf, which is also home to the popular summer islands of Krk and Rab, and within easy driving distance of the region's busy metropolitan capital Rijeka.
