Location
Sixty kilometres south of the Arctic Circle outside the small village of Harads, the Treehotel mixes modernist, minimalist design with back-to-nature values. Located in the Harads, striking and magnificent surroundings encircle this unique hotel experience. Treehotel is situated approximately an hour by car transfer from Lulea (Kallax) airport.
Accommodation
Each individually themed treehouse has underfloor heating, a sink and toilet. The Cabin sits on a platform high on the hillside with commanding views over the Lule valley. The Mirrorcube is a 4x4x4-metre box with walls of reflective glass. The Bird’s Nest is a natty hideaway camouflaged by branches. The Blue Cone sits on sturdy foundations close to the ground. The UFO is a futuristic flying saucer with a silver sheen. The Dragonfly is a room for up to four with big panoramic windows. The all-new Biosphere, coming May 2022, features a facade of 340 bird nests, which attracts and helps conserve local bird populations. Wonderful nature surrounds each room, but the choice is far from elementary. You can also stay at the hotel's heart – Brittas Guesthouse. A home away from home, this early-20th-century house is full of original charm and antiques; it's also where you'll take your meals and showers.
Dining
Britta’s restaurant offers a fabulous array of Swedish home cooking based on fresh local ingredients including Caviar of Kalix (the most sought-after caviar in Sweden, known as ‘red gold’), Arctic char, salmon, moose and reindeer.
Facilities
Open year-round, this is a wonderful place to enjoy winter Northern Lights viewing, horse and sleigh excursions, dogsledding and downhill or cross-country skiing at nearby Storklinten. Summer and autumn pursuits range from kayaking in the Lule River to berry picking on a forest walk. After a day’s exploring, you can relax in the Tree Sauna or a hot tub.
