Set on its own island in the heart of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, &Beyond’s Xaranna camp offers luxurious solitude amongst a teeming ecosystem of elephants, lions, hippos, leopards and cheetahs. Location 

The camp is ideally located on its own island within an exclusive 672,000 acre wildlife concession – meaning unrivalled access to game drives, bush walks and horseback safaris to see herds of buffalo, leopards, elephants and the elusive African lion. With a myriad of interconnecting waterways, guests can also enjoy seasonal water safaris by motorboat or mokoro (a type of traditional African canoe). With conservation at the centre of everything the camp offers, there’s also sustainable fishing trips with experienced local guides.

Accommodation 

Comprising of only nine tented suites, guests enjoy a quiet seclusion complemented by the camp’s boutique styling. Seemingly blending into their surroundings, suites are constructed from bleached timber and canvas and are full of soft furnishings. [A far cry from Glastonbury,] each fully air conditioned tent sports a private plunge pool, indoor bath, outdoor pavilion and an al fresco shower. Set apart from one another, they all offer uninterrupted views of the delta and grassland beyond.

Dining 

Days in the delta often begin early with a morning game drive to see the wildlife when it’s most active. At breakfast you can expect light, fragrant teas/ coffees and platters of fruit and cheese with accompanying hot options. After lunch in the spacious guest areas, a typical lodge afternoon tea is served complete with decadent nibbles. In the evening, guests enjoy the romance of dinner under the stars in the camp’s open air boma.

Facilities 

With so many waterways to explore and animals to see, it’s unlikely that you’ll spend much time on site. However, the attentive staff and the camp’s artisan design will ensure the time you do spend there will be memorable and unique. Whether appreciating a quiet reading corner, swimming a morning length in the pool or sipping a cocktail in the open-walled lounge, there’s something for every taste.
