Location
The Gansevoort is located on the corner of Park Avenue South and East 29th Street in the NoMad district (North of Madison Square Park). As such, it’s just a few blocks north of the Flatiron and a few south of the iconic Empire State Building. With a subway station just around the corner, it’s well positioned for getting around town. Perhaps call into the seminal MoMa or head up to Central Park and scope out your favourite Manhattan eatery.
Accommodation
The hotel’s 249 contemporary rooms and suites are design-oriented to a fault. They feature, on average, 475 square feet of space, lofty ceilings, Juliet balconies and magnificent Park Avenue South views. Special care has gone into the beds, complete with goose down pillows and 300 thread count Egyptian cotton linens. Suites, ranging from 775 to 1,560 square feet, can offer landscaped terraces and kitchenettes while others still come with custom black chandeliers and even Foosball tables.
Dining
The hotel’s signature Asellina restaurant harks back to the ‘Old World’ with culinary techniques and flavours imported from rural Italy. Expect house-made pasta, inventive takes on traditional appetizers and award-winning desserts. For dining in a unique location, The Drift is located right at the top of Gansevoort Park’s tri-level rooftop and serves beach-inspired bites along with cocktails and games. Heading back to downstairs will bring you to Café Menu where indulgent offerings range from Kobe sliders to chicken and waffles.
Facilities
The hotel’s crowning jewel, quite literally, is its unique rooftop. Built across three levels, the pool and bar complex sits 20 storeys up in downtown Manhattan. Here, you’ll find prominent DJs, wrap-around open-air terraces and al fresco fireplaces. Sip on cocktails, premium beers and wine or coffee by Panther, who specialise in small-batch roastings and cold brews from Nicaragua. More tangibly, there’s a state-of-the-art fitness centre, an excellent spa and even a salon.
