Location
Set in the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, this indulgent property is an idyllic rural retreat, just 45 minutes from Marrakech. As such, it’s ideal as a complement to the capital – as part of a twin-centre getaway or as a stop on a country-wide tour. You’ll be hosted by Asni, a tiny market village home to the ever-friendly Berber people. It was first spotted by Sir Richard on one of his famous ballooning expeditions and it’s apt, then, that Kasbah Tamadot enjoys spectacular views. From its valley-top perch it looks up to Mt. Toubkal and its village-dotted contours. These are the communities supported by the hotel, with free English classes offered to all. Explore on guided treks, cultural visits to mosques and schools, and drives into the mountains that take in hidden waterfalls and dramatic plateaus.
Accommodation
As the former home of Luciano Tempo, the famed interior designer, the Kasbah Tamadot is furnished with antiques and ornaments collected from his travels India, Indonesia and North Africa. It’s all showcased in your very room where terracotta tiles and delicately curved archways contribute to a delightfully Moroccan aesthetic – your very own Arabian bolthole. Each enjoys pretty views out over the courtyard, garden or mountain surrounds – sights best taken in from the private balcony and terraces of the suites. It’s all decidedly intimate, featuring just 18 rooms along with a collection of ten Berber Tents, complete with king-size beds, oversized rolltop baths and private decks. Many also come with their very own Jacuzzi. For something truly special, book the Master Suite. This self-contained hideaway hosts its own private pool.
Dining
Meals are taken in the delightful Kanoun Restaurant whose white-clothed tables spill out from the Moroccan dining room and onto the pool terrace and rooftop. It’s the delightful setting for your included breakfast; regional specialities and made-to-order cooked options are complemented by just-baked bread and pastries along with fresh juices and fruit. And, after escaping the midday heat with a casual lunch in the shade, dinners are a truly special experience. Expect seasonal dishes along with degustation menus and traditional Berber feasts, served as a buffet.
Facilities
Despite its bijou sensibilities, Kasbha Tamadot features a wide variety of amenities and activities. Choose between an indoor heated pool and an outdoor infinity offering with views of the Atlas Mountains, or make use of the hotel’s superb spa. Here you can be treated to a range of traditional treatments, including an authentic Moroccan Hammam and a rose water facial, while more contemporary delights come in the form of hot stone massages. For further relaxation, enjoy a drink by the fire in the lounges or under the stars on the roof terrace. If you’d prefer something more active, perhaps make use of the tennis courts, fully equipped gym or book onto one of the excursions. There’s everything from cooking courses to community visits, guided treks and mountain drives.
Please note that Kasbah Tamadot has only partially reopened since the earthquake in September 2023, with a full reopening planned for spring 2024. Please check with our specialists regarding the availability of room types and facilities in the meantime.
