Introduction
The Italian Alps is home to some of the country's most spectacular landscape. The Aosta Valley is hemmed by four of Europe's highest mountains – Mont Blanc, The Matterhorn, Monte Rosa and Gran Paradiso. The Aosta Valley has some of the best skiing in the Alps - with more than 800kms of pistes and 160 lifts at world-famous ski resorts such as Courmayeur and Cervinia - as well as some delightfully historic towns with stunning mountain scenery, preserved Roman ruins, beautiful castles, wonderful wildlife and fabulous food and wine. Further south the Piedmont region boasts splendid architecture, cuisine and beauty on the banks of the Po River.
