Buenos Aires
Arrive in Buenos Aires and check into your hotel, located in upmarket Recoleta. An orientation walking tour provides the chance to familiarise yourself with the city’s grid system – long, tree-lined avenues connecting the barrios (neighbourhoods) that give Buenos Aires its unique character. The following day you’ll explore some of these in more detail as you head out on a guided city tour to La Boca, San Telmo and Recoleta among others, even stopping for a drink at the famous Café Tortoni, a historic hang out for Buenos Aires’ intellectual elite.

Humahuaca - Salta
In the far north of Jujuy province, the Humahuaca Canyon is home to Argentina’s largest population of indigenous Indians who still worship Pacha Mama – the Incan goddess of Mother Earth. Today’s tour explores the region’s astonishing Andean landscapes and puts you in touch with a culture dating back centuries before Spanish rule. In the evening you’ll arrive in Salta where you’ll spend the night. This picturesque city is a treasure trove of Spanish colonial architecture while its plaza-side cafes and gentle pace of life make it a pleasant spot to while away the hours.
Stay: Legado Mitico, Salta (Superior)

Cachi
Passing through the beautiful Lerma Valley, tobacco estancias and several Indian settlements, today’s drive from Salta to Cachi – a small town at the convergence of the Chachi and Calchaquí rivers – is one of the region’s most beautiful. Check into La Merced del Alto where you’ll spend the night.

Cafayate
Continue by road to the wineries of Cafayate, stopping at the Quebrada de las Flechas (Arrow Canyon) where a forest of sharp granite spires juts into the sky. Flanked by billowing white mica dunes, the final approach to town is a fitting prelude to one of Argentina’s driest regions. Despite this arid landscape, the region is home to some of Argentina's most successful wineries. The almost content sunshine and pure Andean ice melt creating ideal conditions for producing torrentés and malbec in particular.

Your first day explores the Argentine side where a network of wooden walkways leads you towards Devil’s Throat, a 90-metre plunge that’s Iguazú’s most spectacular fall. From there, an ecological train chugs you through a jungle filled with colourful birds, butterflies and monkeys. The next day, head across the border to the Brazilian side where you’ll enjoy the best panoramic views.
